Here you can check whether your country has a recognition clause or not.

The recognition clause, when submitted together with the educational document, replaces the decision on the recognition of the achieved level of education. The clause confirms only the level of education attained, not the specific field of study.)

  1. If you are an applicant for bachelor´s degree program who completed secondary education in a country that has a recognition clause, and if a recognition clause is available for your educational document, you must attach the following to your application:

The decision on the recognition of a foreign secondary school education document is issued by the Regional School Administration Office in the region where the applicant has permanent residence, or by the Regional School Administration Office in Trenčín.

Application

  1. If you are applying for an engineering/master‘s degree and you completed your previous level of education abroad ( except in the Czech Republic), and you only need the recognition of the level of education (at our university this is handled by the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Industrial Technologies), you must submit the following with your application:

If the applicant does not submit the required documents by the time the fulfillment of the admission requirements is verified, they may be admitted to the study conditionally. The applicant is required to submit the mentioned documents no later than on the official enrollment day for university studies.

  1. If you are applying for an engineering/master‘s degree and you completed your previous level of education abroad and you need to have your study field recognized (at our university, this concerns the Faculty of Health Care, the Faculty of Special Technology, and the Faculty of Social and Economic Relations), you must attach the following to your application:

The recognition of the educational document in the respective study field (university diploma, state examination certificate, and document confirming the academic, scientific-pedagogical, or artistic-pedagogical titles) is decided by a recognized higher education institution in the Slovak Republic which offer study programs in the same or related study fields as stated in the educational document. If you plan to study at Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín, you may submit your application for recognition directly to our university.

Study programmes.

The Application for Recognition of Education TnUAD.docx for higher education in the corresponding field of study, issued by A lexander Dubček University of Trenčín, must include:

  • the applicant´s first name and surname;
  • the applicant´s permanent residence address or equivalent address;
  • the subject/purpose of application;
  • the name and address of the recognized higher education institution that issued the educational qualification;
  • the year of graduation of the applicant;
  • the applicant´s signature.

In accordance with § 33, paragraph 3 of the Act, the following documents must be attached to the Application for Recognition of Educational Documents:

  • a copy of an identity document,
  • certified copies of educational documents and their official translation into the Slovak language,
  • a transcript of records (certified copy) and its official translation into the Slovak language,
  • a certified copy of the Diploma Supplement (if issued by a recognized higher education institution) and its official translation into Slovak language,
  •  information on previous education completed prior to the education subject to the application, and ist official translation into the Slovak language,
  • proof of payment of the administrative fee in accordance with the schedule of administrative fees:
    • 7 EURif the educational document is covered by a  bilateral agreement on mutual recognition of equivalence of educational documents with the country in which the document was obtained;
    • 40 EURif the educational document is not covered by any bilateral agreement.
  • Methods of Payment for the Administrative Fee (Application Fee):
    1. By using a payment confirmation for the administrative/judicial fee purchased at selected branches of Slovenská pošta, a.s. in the required amount.
    2. Through the eKolok mobile application (available on Google Play , App Store)
    3. Through the eKolok web application (Virtual Branch) available at: https://m.ekolky.gov.sk/
  • Proof of payment of the administrative fee in the amount of 50,00 EUR in accordance with the valid Organizational Directive 3-U-004 Determining the Tuition Fee and Fees Related to Studies at TnUAD, published www.tnuni.sk.

The applicant is required to submit a certified translation of the documents into the state language (Slovak).

The recognition procedure begins on the day the application is delivered to Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín. The university will review the application within 30 days of its receipt. If the application does not meet the required formal criteria, the procedure will be suspended and the applicant will be asked to provide the missing documents or correct the deficiencies within 30 days from the date of receiving the request for completion.

In accordance with § 34 of the Act, Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín will issue a decision on the recognition of educational documents within two months from the date of receipt of a complete application, and will decide:

  • on the recognition of the educational document;
  • on the rejection of the application for recognition of the educational document;
  • on the imposition of a differential exam.

The decision on the recognition of an educational document is not a document confirming the recognition of professional qualifications.Rozhodnutie o uznaní dokladu o vzdelaní nie je dokladom o uznaní odbornej kvalifikácie.

The university has the right to request, in addition to the documents listed above, additional documents or information necessary for assessing the equivalence of the educational document. This may include, for example, verification of the authenticity of signatures and the school stamp on the educational document by the competent authority of the member state or third country (apostille or superlegalization).

If Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín does not offer the same or a related study program, you must submit your application for recognition to another university that offers corresponding field of study.

Study programmes.

The automatic form of academic recognition is represented by the Statement on the recognition of the level of attained education, which is available for selected countries. The recognition clause, submitted together with the respective educational document, replaces the decision on the recognition of the achieved level of education.

5. - Temporary stay for study purposes for students / PhD students

Third-country students who are planning to stay in Slovakia for more than 90 days have to request
a temporary stay for study purposes. The application is submitted personally either abroad at the Slovak Embassy / Consulate (territorially competent for the foreign country or in Slovakia at the relevant foreigners’ police department. More info http://www.mzv.sk/web/en/consular_info

The applicant shall provide:

  • Filled Request for a Temporary Stay – it must be filled out in Slovak;
  • 2 current face photos 3 x 3.5 cm;
  • a valid travel document (only for viewing);
  • a document proving the purpose of the stay – confirmation of the school on admission to study (in Slovak);
  • a document in the Slovak language proving sufficient financial security during the stay – a statement of the balance on the bank account held in the name of the third-country national;
  • Extract from the Criminal Record, apostilled or superlegalized, from the country of residence of the foreigner and from every country where the foreigner has stayed for more than 90 days in the last 3 years during 6 consecutive months; each extract must be subsequently officially translated into Slovak by Slovak court translators;
  • Foreigners who are going to study at college do not provide accommodation.

None of these documents may be older than 90 days.

The personnel of the foreigners’ police department communicate exclusively in Slovak. Therefore, we recommend those who do not speak Slovak to come to the foreigners’ police department in the company of someone who does speak Slovak.

If a temporary residence permit is granted, within 30 days of the receipt of the residence document, it is necessary to provide the foreign police department with a proof of medical examination confirming that the person concerned does not suffer from a disease threatening public health. The proof of health check must not be older than 30 days and can only be obtained in selected Slovak healthcare facilities.
